ecodisco originated as a sustainable concept party in June 2019, when we threw London’s first club night to remove all single-use plastics. In early 2020 ecodisco evolved from club night to consultancy and began to design scalable, affordable and measurable systems to remove single-use plastics and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the UK events industry.
Through 2021 we were funded by Innovate UK to design and scale a reusable cup rental service alongside designing, producing and piloting a new reusable cup that we plan to launch later in 2022. From 2021 - 22 we have been commercially active supplying clients across the UK with reusable cups that we deliver, collect, wash and redeliver. So far we have prevented over 150,000 single-use cups from going to landfill or incineration.
We also run regular club nights called Guava Jamz. All profits from these events go direct towards funding our sustainability initiatives and are run voluntarily by members of the ecodisco team.
ecodisco is pushing for a more environmentally and economically sustainable nightlife scene in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. You can listen to episode 001 of our radio show to find out more.
The latest ecodisco project is Guava Jamz, our new party that launched on 11th September 2021 at HWK : The Lot in Hackney Wick. The line up was a big one with Theo Kottis, Louise Chen, Ifeoluwa, Rachael and more gracing the custom-built soundsystem.
For 002 we had siblings Nahibah Iqbal & Haseeb Iqbal playing back to back for 3 hours at Earth Hackney. The vibe was amazing and there was even a proposal on the dancefloor! For 003 we hosted the incredible Esa & Donna Leake for a sold out show at EartH on April 2nd 2022.
On May 7th we welcomed Kiara Scuro & Kmya for 004, and most recently we held Guava Jamz' first birthday on Sept 3rd - a 12hr party with Funkineven, Maurice Fulton & more.
All profits plus 50% of the booking fee go direct to our work at ecodisco. Follow @guavajamz_ on instagram for next event details.
